Minions and spirits are not party members. Your own attack skills or something else caused the burning.

"Attack Skill" and "Party Member" are the operative words. Attack Skills are pretty much what it says on the tin -- skills that cause you to do an attack. As minions do not have skills, they can never activate things conditional upon using skills. Spirit attacks, however, do indeed count. Spirits, though, are "Allies" but not "Party Members," so while they could use AoF if they had it, they can't get it on them.

guildwiki.org is a good resource for finding this information on your own also. It can be a little tricky but once you learn the lingo you'll be able to read skill descriptions much more effectively.
